Bannock or Galette de Michif, is traditional Métis bread. Generally round, hence the French term Galette, meaning cookie.

  • Baked Bannock
  • 3 cups flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. sugar (optional)
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup melted fat/lard
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • *Never overwork
  • Bake at 350 for
  • 15-20 minutes until golden brown
